International Learning Journeys of InnoCities Continue
In February 2025, we will explore the Dutch approach to innovation and urban development. The Netherlands has chosen a mission-oriented approach alongside the development of selected key sectors. We will hear about activities at various levels, from national to local, and also visit development environments operating in the Hague area.
The Hague is an international city of peace and justice and the administrative center of the country. The goal is to learn about the mission-oriented innovation and urban policy of the Netherlands and its practical implementation.
Learning Questions of the Trip:
- What is mission-oriented innovation policy in the Netherlands and how is it implemented?
- How do mission-driven key sectors and innovation policy relate to each other, how are they implemented locally, and what are the experiences gained from this?
- How do local pioneers operate at the intersection of sustainable urban development, ecosystem development, and innovation policy?
Our main interests include:
- Visits to local actors in the field (innovation ecosystems, key sectors, public-private partnerships, RDI infrastructure, living labs, test labs).
- Learning about the implementation of innovation policy and sustainable urban development at the city level in the Netherlands
- Multilevel innovation management and cooperation between the public sector, higher education sector, and businesses
- Achieving societal sustainability and economic benefits through RDI activities
