Well-being and Nature Experience Tourism

In the leadership project for the innovation cluster of wellness and nature experience tourism, a national innovation cluster is formed for cities, universities, research institutions, and companies. The goal is to create a foundation for broad cooperation, develop companies’ RDI expertise and multi-location service offerings, and provide companies and municipalities with information and examples of ways to increase responsible tourism.

The project idea arises from the need to develop year-round tourism and winter tourism in Rovaniemi and Lahti. The long-term goal is to increase Finland’s recognition as a destination for wellness and nature experience tourism. The City of Rovaniemi, specifically Business Rovaniemi, is the main implementer of the project. Co-implementers include LAB University of Applied Sciences, Lapland University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Lapland. The partnership network also includes VTT, the City of Turku, the City of Kuopio, and the Municipality of Liminka.
